Differences from the movie

New Holland's storyline follows the plot of Frankenweenie fairly closely, but there are a few key differences to fit the world into the Kingdom Hearts universe:

  • In the movie, Mr. Whiskers is mutated into a vampire cat when he comes in contact with a dead bat and lightning and is later killed by a falling rafter. Instead, Mr. Whiskers brings Weird Girl a dead Hook Bat. After coming in contact with the lightning and the Hook Bat, Mr. Whiskers becomes a heartless version of his vampire form. After defeating him he reverts back to his mindless self (though still in his vampire form), carries Weird Girl off to the Dutch Day Carnival and helps out in the fight against Shelley and later is transformed back to his regular self when he flies towards Shelley and is electrocuted with him.
  • In the movie, Mr. Whiskers is revealed to be the true antagonist of this world instead, this world's antagonist is revealed to be Nassor
  • In the movie, Shelley becomes a giant after a bottle of Miracle-Gro is spilled on him instead, he is still ressurected with lightning but is turned into giant with a potion Magica throws on him
  • Like in the junior novel and the original screenplay of Frankenweenie, after the Were-Rat is electrocuted by Sparky he shrinks down to a regular sized rat and flees instead of reverting back to his regular dead form.
