A highly intellectual man with an abnormal IQ of 600, Takeshi Hongo was captured and converted into a cyborg by the terrorist organization Shocker. Before his captors could manipulate his mind to make him serve them, Hongo rebelled and fought against Shocker, becoming the very first Kamen Rider.
Story[]
Hongo was approached by the Shin Avengers in the Tokuverse, and despite his initial reservations, he saves them by destroying the Iron Man Mk.48, becoming the last Tokuverse hero to join the Avengers Sentai Alliance. He is also seen fighting with Gavan, The Thing, and Wolverine early in the Battle of Starktopia 01, rescuing Chadley and briefly allowing Steve Rogers to use his Cyclone Motorcycle. After Iron Majin is destroyed for good, Hongo returns to the Tokuverse along with the Super Sentai and other Kamen Riders.[1]
Team Attacks[]
Shin Avenger-Rider Kick - A double flying kick executed by Shin Seigi and Hongo.
Quotes[]
- "Rider Kick!!" - using his signature finishing move to destroy the Hulkbuster 2.
- "There can be no peace or justice without human life!" - before Shin responds “That’s why you once said human life is more important than peace and justice.”
- "As long as your kind exists, so too, will Kamen Rider!"
Trivia[]
- His rescue of a Black Panther fan named Chadley is a subtle allusion to Hiroshi Fujioka's promotion of the Black Panther film in 2018[2].
- Kim Strauss voiced Hongo's Masked Rider counterpart nearly 30 years prior
- to the Super Infinity War.
- Lord Stark called Hongo the “first and foremost greatest hero of the Tokuverse”, which is technically only true by chronological conception in real life. King Ranger was actually the first Tokuverse hero by in-universe chronology, existing 600 million years ago.[3]
- Hongo, Tsuyoshi Kaijou, and Retsu Ichijouji are typically considered the “Big Three” of the Toei Tokuverse.
- His alternate costumes in the fan game include his original TV show design from the first 13 episodes(his default appearance in MvSS’ story mode to more easily distinguish from Kamen Rider 2), and his 2005 and 2023 movie designs.
